Characters on the book Crossed
Towards the end of the book Crossed I notice the characters and their personalities a lot more vividly. Cassia, who is the main character, is a very independent young girl. She likes to be the leader and be in control of everything. She has a main goal in mind, to get to the Rising and nothing will stop her from getting there. She has also fallen deeply in love with Ky. Cassia cannot pin point one thing that make him so special but they connect in such a way that is indescribable. Ky is that very reserved person. " I can't read Ky's expression-his face is closed-off, remote. This is the Ky of the Society again and I feel a sudden ache of loss at the Ky of the Carving." (Dutton, 299)
Him and Cassia are complete opposites as you can see. He doesn’t speak up and likes to hide his emotions unlike Cassia. Once he met Cassia in the Society things started to change though. He became more confident and would do anything he could to make her happy. Even when Cassia and Ky got separated they both escaped where they were and ventured into the cannons looking for each other. While they were separated Ky met this little boy about 9 or 10 years old, his name was Eli. Eli reminded Ky about Cassia's little brother. So he decided to take Eli and another friend to the cannons not only to escape but to find Ky's one true love. Cassia also met someone where she was staying. Her name was Indie. Indie is just like Cassia but she is isn’t afraid to leave behind or step over somebody if they are in her way. Once they are rejoined they help each other through the trials and make sure that everyone is safe. But then Ky does something the hindered Cassia from finding the Rising. He burned the only map that can lead you there. Cassia was shocked and angry at him. He knew that the Rising meant everything to Cassia and he had done this terrible thing thinking that he was just protecting her. He felt horrible for doing such a thing to hurt the one he loved.
