Theme and summary for the book Crossed

I believe the theme for Crossed is to never give up on a goal that you have set. I think this because Cassia never gives up on finding Ky -her one true love- and she never stopped finding him till she had him in her hands. "You’re here," he says, breathing hard and hungry. Sweat and dirt cover his face, and he looks at me as though I’m the only thing he ever needed to see". (Condie, 194). She searched everywhere and went through grueling challenges like climbing canyons and sleeping inside caves she knew it was all worth it though. Ky was also searching for her. He knew that if he found her, his life would be a whole lot better. But both of their determinations lead them to finding each other!

Cassia and Indie were determined to find the rising also. Cassia had been dreaming of being in the rising since the day she found out about it. Her grandfather started the spark for her to join and she made the decision to pursue this goal. Even if it meant that there group had to split up and risk never seeing each other again. She was willing to do that in order to get what she wanted. Ky, however, did not want to find the rising. He actually tried to stop cassia from going because he knew what it was like and he didn't want her to go through all that experience.

"Tell me why," she says. Why would you want to lie to me? Why would you take a choice from me?"

"All the reasons I lied run through my head: because I can’t lose you, because I was jealous, because I don’t trust anyone, because I can’t even trust myself, because, because, because."(Condie, 296)

But nevertheless she fought for what she wanted and she reached the rising with indie right by her side.
